This video examines #methane #Gas dispersion from an Oil and gas platform by using our feature "Multispecies" .
We used an ultra complex #STL model with 7 million triangles with a #mesh of 13 million cells created in 1 hour, being so detailed that you can see even the bolts 🔩 .
The #cfdsimulation has been done in 2 steps:
Step 1: calculation of the steady state air circulation around the offshore plant with a #windspeed of 3 m/s and a #winddirection 315 degrees North West.
step 2: simulation of an sudden breakage of a methane pipe that pours into the atmosphere at 1 m/s from the pipe hole.
The transient simulation starts from the previously calculated steady state flow field. The video shows 150 real time seconds which represent the first 2 and a half minutes after pipe breakage which equals to 150 frames of 1 second each.
