Ensuring people’s safety in train stations during emergencies is a critical input for any designer or fire & safety professional.
In our latest case study (courtesy of Italferr S.p.A.), Vento performed a realistic simulation of smoke dispersion dynamics in a station environment: a train carriage caught fire right outside the station doors, near the staircases leading to the concourse level.
Our objective? To evaluate how quickly carbon monoxide and soot could spread throughout the concourse level, which is typically crowded with passengers.
In order for exit routes to be safe, it's crucial to ensure that evacuation times are shorter than the time it takes for toxic gases to reach hazardous levels, posing risks to people's health.
Curious to learn more about how Vento's simulations can enhance safety measures in high-traffic environments?
